Madeline joined us a week after she arrived in the Philippines – her first stop was at a dog sanctuary (Dogs Mountain) located just a few kilometers up the road from us. She wrote a¬†beautiful¬†piece below. We worked on two projects while she was here: herb garden bed and the¬†remodeling¬†of our outside ‘dirty kitchen’. We reorganised the space as well as built a neepa roof to keep the sun off us while we wash and cook.
Dear David, Carol and Kyra,
Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay. While your thorough website gave me a good idea of what I was getting myself into, I could never imagine all the amazing moments I have experienced here.
When I first arrived to the gorgeous setting of the sun, I had a feeling I would truly enjoy myself and I most certainly have. Your family is full of kind and wise words and a simple joy that is rare to find in people these days.
I greatly appreciate everything you all have done for me here, from David’s agricultural knowledge and spiritual wisdom to Carol’s kind hospitality and amazing cooking skills and, of course, Kyra’s biological disasters and exuberant ‘joie de vivre’.
The interactions with the local community/family made my stay really authentic and special. I will not forget all the experiences I have had here and all that I have learned. I am leaving a stronger person, in terms of muscles and spirit. I cannot thank you all enough for that. Keep up the hard work and of course the happiness here at the Happy House Farm.
Hope to see you all again one day soon (and it will be easy to find you now with the new sign!).
Much love, Madeline Stark
